Feb 2010
The dry weather continues with 80-100 degree temperature, no humidity, and blue skies. I sometimes get up early and do yoga outside. It is a remarkable experience to do yoga and hear the awakening sounds of the monkeys, birds and other wildlife as the sun lightens the area. We had a short uneventful windy season—our windy season correlates to the blizzards up north. These dry winds can be extreme, but this year they are breezy and mostly pleasant. Joe did witness a tree breaking in half on the next lot—these are things we take in stride, now.
We had our 4th anniversary of the Black Sheep Pub in early February. Any party after our New Years Eve party could only be anticlimactic but our regulars showed up for us and it was good to see everyone. The pub has not been open regularly. We don’t currently have a source of draft beer and only have one CO2 tank. We are planning our big Saint Patrick’s Day party. Besides having the same band we had for New Years, we have managed to interest a local well regarded gourmet chef to do the cooking--quite a coup for us. Last year I met people who told me they plan their vacations around coming to our annual Saint Patrick’s Day party.
We are making regular trips to San Carlos and we still want to move there. We have seen another property we like. If we could sell here, we would be in San Carlos. We are registered with three brokers in Nosara, one in Central Costa Rica and we are on several web sites—we have lowered our price and all we need is one buyer to fall in love with our property. Our new brokers seem interested in marketing the property but only one has listed it correctly on their web site—I’m still trying to market and sell on my own.
We have new friends here on the mountain. A Czech couple, Martin and Susan, moved in down the road and I have been getting together with Susan for coffee regularly. They are involved in some major construction of their house and it is coming along well. Susan introduced me to my new Spanish teacher—a young local girl who comes up to our place to review pronunciation. “Listen and speak,” she says. It gets me out of my head to focus on pronunciation. Joe speaks with our gardeners very morning for ½ hour in Spanish to review their work for the day so his Spanish is improving.
I hope to be back in New York the middle of April. In the meantime we hope for our one buyer to show up.
Write when you have a minute. Love Helena and Joe
