Last CR entry of the dry season. April 2010
I got my job in New York starting April 19th. I will be back at Beth Israel Hospital for 13 weeks. It was quite the ordeal landing this spot. I am busy now making arrangements. When I get to NY I will probably sign up for a writing class.
The hot dry dusty season is here. The landscape and scenery has browned out and temperatures are 80 to 100. My friend Isabelle from Boston just visited. I showed her my routine of swimming at noon to stay refreshed. The heat definitely slows everybody down. It is a good feeling since there is so little that really has to be done.
We are still trying to sell our house. Go to www.nosaraparadise.blogspot.com. Still no offers despite having advertised in many places. Joe will do a video soon and we will get it on U tube. The brokers here tell me no one is coming by or visiting their web sites. We were offering huge bonuses in addition to commission but it didn’t get us any activity. We buried a 2nd statue of St Joseph last month, on the actual feast of St Joseph-- it was from Joe’s 1st communion kit. And we are doing a lot of the minor upkeep that houses need to show well.
We have a new kitty cat. Joe had wanted a new kitten and the kitten Gunter trapped for him turned out to be a small cat who was used to living in the wild. He would not stay in the house but he hung around our area and lived in the jungle. Then Joe began feeding him, petting him, and now he cannot get enough of us including sleeping with us along with the dogs. His name is Guinness and his nickname is Dipstick.
My cousin John from Hartford almost visited this month. It appears other friends from Boston are coming this way in July. Jerry and Patric Joyce. I will be in NY but at least they will see Joe and the pub.
Our St Patrick’s Day party was quite big and successful. However, we are not sure it is the kind of party we want. Our parties take on a life of their own—a little too chaotic for us—still it is always great to see people and having an English pub in the jungle is a kick.
My next entry will be from NY. I will be back living with Chilaires, my dancer friend, at least temporarily. . She is still in Astoria but she moved to Broadway. And I will be back on 5B eves. So my new York life continues.
Stay in touch..Love Helena and Joe
