NY July 2010
Joe comes to NYC Aug 10th. He will be in Boston staying at Jack and Margaret's from the 13th to the 16th and we will both be in Rochester from the 18th to the 23rd. The rest of the time we are in NYC--he goes back Aug 27th.
We are looking for a couple from Long Island--we met you at the Black Sheep Pub in Nosara two years in a row. She introduced me to the chocolate martini and he said he was in the Witness Protection Program...You both drank gin martinis and he said he reads this blog...Please email me at HGreaney@gmail.com We would love to hang out with you in NYC
Most of my time is spent working and staff nursing is largely about group dynamics. I am floated a lot and I am comfortable with all the psych and detox units at Beth Israel Hospital. I do a good job; most people like me and my contract has been renewed till the end of Oct. I started to look into teaching nursing but I am not sure if I want to do this now. Staff nursing and learning to write may be enough. I am renewing my advanced practice certification just in case.
I drafted an outline for my memoir on moving to Costa Rica and I am working on Chap 1 as a stand alone story. There is a lot to learn about creating scenes, pacing, and dialogue. I am signed up for Memoir 2 at Gotham Writing where I continue to study and practice. I start next week--one 3 hour class/week for ten weeks.
I visited Bill and Nancy last week in the Hamptons and we talked a lot about Nosara and how it has changed in the past 20 years. When they had their house built, Nosara was a place people went to retire and do something different; now many young people are coming there to live. A private elementary school for expatriates’ children is thriving. It is interesting being a part of a new community..we are pioneers like in the Old Wild West. All of Costa Rica has this new country feeling and there is a US presence including, I am told, secret military bases. The new bridge in nearby Garza was rumored to have been sent from US Army surplus. Bill and Nancy heard that the very large US Embassy in San Jose may have secret diplomatic functions in Latin America; in sleepy Nosara we don’t usually think about these things. We just like to experience Nature which is all around us like being in heaven.
Jerry and Patrice Joyce visited Joe at the pub last week. I look forward to Joe's visit next month. Maybe Joe will see people in Boston or let me know if you will be in NY. Please stay in touch. Contact info on top of blog.
Love Helena and Joe
